What is a baby beaver called?

A baby beaver is called a kit or a kitten. Kits are born fully furred and with their eyes open. They are dependent on their mother for the first few months of their lives and stay with her in the lodge until they are old enough to venture out on their own. Kits learn essential skills such as how to swim, build dams, and gather food from their parents. They are typically weaned off their mother's milk at around 2-3 months old and start eating solid food such as vegetation and bark. Like adult beavers, kits are excellent swimmers and spend much of their time in the water.
